Today I’d like to talk about the long history of aprons and how today’s cooks and chefs are brightening up their kitchens with some stylish new designs. Just because you are in the kitchen putting together a special dish for your guests doesn’t mean you can’t be dressed in a Stylish Cooking Apron.
Did you know that the word apron comes from the medieval french word naperon, a diminuitive form of the word nape, which means tablecloth. A naperon was placed over the large tableclothe to protect it. According to Merriam-Webster, naperon first shows up in English in the 14th century as a protective cloth placed over the clothing. Apparently napron was often confused for the words “an apron” and by the 17th century, that’s what everyone called the cloth people wore over their clothes.
Gone are the days when you have to run to your closet and put on something chic before you join your friends at the table. Now you can put on a fancy apron over you favorite party wear and seamlessly move from kitchen to diningroom and look smart while you are doing it.
